You do not need to apologize or question anymore.

And anyone who makes you feel stupid or demeans you for what you are setting out to do is just identifying themselves as someone you need to cleanse from your life.

I know what I’m talking about here. I coach people trying to do what you are doing. I have spoken in my podcasts to hundreds of people on a journey to find meaningful work in the world.

And here’s the cruz of it.

Everyone says they want to follow their dreams, but 99.9% don’t because it’s fucking hard work and it’s not a dream at all. It’s gruelling. It takes sacrifice and a lot of changes.

Those that do are generally answering a feeling they can’t shake. That something is missing. A hole that can’t be filled with distraction and pretty things.

I believe it is about finding our vocation. And it’s a very simple equation that can be quite daunting and confusing to work through. But Aristotle nailed it, in my opinion.

“Where your talents and the needs of the world cross; there lies your vocation.”

What you are doing is mature, respectable and to be applauded.

And only you can determine if it is meaningful.

But you are no longer of the 99.9%. You clearly are working to change your life and enable amazing new opportunities. And you are no longer like the majority of people who are comfortable with the lives they have built around the sadness and mediocrity they feel deep inside.

It will be scary and exciting and difficult. But it will be answering a calling you feel. That is one hundred percent yours. And that’s an awesome feeling.

Just beware those who will feel threatened by what you are doing. For you will be showing them their sadness and longing.

And they will use those voices of self doubt in your head to hurt you. But only if you let them.
