I sense similar things in my work and it was part of why I wrote what I did.
I’ve heard from a few people who spoke of achieving a level of skill or mastery and how this can allow for a sense of pride or “work well done”.
And yet, I can’t help but share the feeling, that you share so eloquently above, that feeing our ego might “limit myself from growing more as an artist.”
I’ve long believe that craftmanship is never achieved. Mastery at anything is an illusion. The masters are those who shared until their last moment.
The photo of Matisse on his deathbed still struggling to paint something on his wall with a stick comes to mind.
