I can’t quite process the fact that someone’s response to this piece was that “men also attack other men” and somehow ending with the fact that women shaming men for this is part of the problem. Seriously?

I won’t link to this person nor call them by name. They don’t deserve any more attention.

It’s ludicrous.

It’s the same thing as trying to co-opt “Black Lives Matter” by saying “All Lives Matter.” Pretentious, privileged and racist bullshit.

I’m a gay man.

I have gay friends.

My gay friends have been abused by members of the same sex and by random idiot assholes on the street.

NONE of these statements AT ALL invalidates what you raise above.

Our society is failing to raise men that are respectful and kind. Women are taking the brunt of this on their shoulders, necks, faces and every other body part that has been abused, attacked and belittled.

It’s time to tell our stories and to SUPPORT THOSE PEOPLE standing up to tell their stories. Claiming they aren’t the victims does not help, it makes the problem worse.

Keep writing, Alexainie. But don’t waste too much time on those who are so sorely lost. Leave that to the Cyborg. She has the patience of a robotic saint! :)
