I will never forget when I read one of Chris Orwig’s books. He teaches photography. And every year, he flies in one of the GREATS to do a portfolio review of his senior class. It’s a pretty intimidating event for these kids.

And one year he brought in someone who was known for their no-bullshit reviews. He was harsh. Beyond harsh. And one person left crushed. But they pushed back. They asked to see him again. And they asked how they improve their work.

And he looked them in the eyes and said, “Become a more interesting person.”

I love this story even if I’ve forgotten the names involved.

Too many of us live the commonplace. We BASK in the mediocre.

I can’t tell you how many people I meet who are COMFORTABLE with their life of sadness and pain.

So good for you.
